SENSATIONAL & SAFE SPRING BREAK STORY CONTEST

The Mānoa Alcohol Project wants to publicize the fact that most students have sensational…. fun and/or productive…. spring breaks without alcohol or other drugs. We are inviting you to participate in a story competition. Submit a written description of your sensational spring break. If your entry is judged to be the best, you will receive an IPOD Touch! If it is one of the runners-up you will receive a $20 UH Bookstore gift card. See details below: for more information, contact uhmap@hawaii.edu.
CONTEST DETAILS
TIMELINE:
- Deadline for entries is April 9, 2010 (12 midnight).
- Winners will be notified by email during the 1st week of May 2010
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- You must be a UH-Mānoa undergraduate.
- Entries must be between 250 and 500 words, in Arial or Times Roman, 12 pt font.
- Submit your story by email attachment, to uhmap@hawaii.edu
- In your email, include the following personal information:
- First and last name
- Age
- School standing (freshman, sophomore, etc.)
- Major, if any
- Email address
PRIZES:
- Grand Prize – 8GB IPOD Touch
- 10 Runners-Up each receive a $20 Gift Card to the UH-Mānoa Bookstore
- Publication in Fall, 2010: Winning entries will be published on the MAP website. The grand prize entry also will be published in the MAP “On the Go” bathroom reader. We will ask each winner to sign a consent which allows us to publish his/her story and name.
- Prizes can be claimed at the University Health Services, Health Promotion Resource Room, 2600 Campus Road, QLC 313D, with the presentation of a valid UH ID
CRITERIA:
- Sensational Activity: How creative, novel, and/or beneficial was the activity?
- Ability to Communicate: How clear, grammatically correct, and creative is the writing?
- Benefit to You and/or to Others: What and how much did you and/or others gain from the experience?
- OVERALL: Is this a positive example of UH-Mānoa student(s) having a sensational and safe spring break without alcohol or other drugs?

This is an awesome idea and a great way to increase the campus community’s self-awareness of alcohol/drug/tobacco use!
