Reduce Or Quit Using Alcohol
If you’re thinking about cutting back on drinking or stopping drinking altogether, there is help for you.*
The UH Manoa Brief Alcohol Screening & Intervention for College Students (BASICS) program is offered for all UH students who may want to explore their alcohol and drug use, but the main goal of the program is to educate students about risky behaviors and harmful consequences of alcohol and drug abuse. BASICS counselors can also refer you to community providers who can help with alcohol dependence or addiction. To learn more about BASICS or make an appointment visit http://www.hawaii.edu/shs/basics.html
Online, you can find simple ways to cut back your alcohol use or to stop all together by visiting the Alcohol & Drug Information Page.
*NOTE: Sudden withdrawal from very heavy drinking can cause dangerous side effects such as seizures. See a doctor to plan a safe recovery. An addiction expert also can evaluate whether medication would be helpful and safe for you.
